Green Mountain K Cups

Green Mountain K-Cups became a hot item when sales of the Keurig brewer that uses K-cups took off thanks to acceptance by the American consumer.  Green Mountain acquired Keurig Incorporated in 2006 and has had double digit sales increases ever since.  Of course Green Mountain has been around for years, selling their specialty coffees at special stands usually located within another business like a travel stop or gas station.  Think of a Starbucks only for the middle class.

Green Mountain has a total of 60 different K-cups and the list keeps growing.  Of course various flavors and blends of coffee are their primary interest but they also have several hot chocolates and teas as an alternative.

Before we get into the various K-cup flavors, it is worthwhile to mention that Green Mountain has the commendable reputation of utilizing fair trade practices.  What this means is means is they practice policies that ensure the growers are paid fair prices for their efforts, and that the products were produced with responsible environmental concerns taken into account and there was responsible handling of agricultural chemicals.  Also, that the coffee was shade-grown and certified organic.  These products are labeled as such.

Now for the good stuff.  Of the 60 different K-cups produced by Green Mountain, all have been reviewed by people who have tried the product.  Thirteen of the products had less than 10 reviews.  The highest number was for the Hot Cocoa K-cup which had 257 reviews but unfortunately had the lowest rating at 2½ stars out of five.  The biggest complaint was that it was weak which a little over 100 of the reviewers agreed on.

Five star ratings went to the Hazelnut Dark Roast Extra Bold, the Extra Bold Variety Sampler, Vermont Country Blend Decaf, Dark Magic Decaf Extra Bold, English Breakfast Black Tea, Our Blend, Tea Variety Sampler, and Hazelnut.

Four and a half star ratings went to the Wicked Winter Blend, Breakfast Blend, Nantucket Blend, Dark Magic Extra Bold, Fair Trade Wild Mountain Blueberry, Breakfast Blend Decaf, Vermont Country Blend, Southern Pecan, Extra Bold 10% Kona Blend, Donut House Coffee, Fair Trade Organic Espresso Blend Extra Bold, Columbian Fair Trade Select, Fair Trade Organic Sumatran Reserve Extra Bold, Double Black Diamond Extra Bold, Regular Variety Sampler, Mandarin Orange Spice Herbal Tea, Lake & Lodge, Café Escapes Chai Latte, Donut House Decaf, Lemon Iced Tea, Kenyan AA, French Roast Decaf, Lemon Zinger Herbal Tea, and Colombian Fair Trade Select.

Four star ratings went to the Café Escapes Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa, Caramel Vanilla Cream, French Vanilla, Half-Caff, French Vanilla Decaf, Café Escapes Mocha, Decaf Variety Sampler Fair Trade Rain Forest Nut, India Spice Chai Tea, Green Tea, Raspberry Iced Tea, Sleepytime Herbal Tea, Earl Grey Black Tea, Peach Iced Tea, and Fair Trade Organic National Wildlife Blend.

With so many varieties to choose from you may want to do some research online and read some reviews for yourself in order to get somewhat of an idea of which ones you would like to start trying first.

Mountain Green

With its inspiration coming from World War II Army jeeps, Jeep Wranglers appeal to a large number of people around the world. First introduced in 1987, they have remained a favorite of off road enthusiasts. The standard Wrangler features several trims for its 2-door vehicles.

The Sport 4x4 is the basic model of the two-door Wrangler, which can be outfitted with customer selected options. The Sport S package is the basic model with popular options such as air-conditioning, fog lamps, leather wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, and front and rear tow hooks preselected. The Sport and Sport S package offer the greatest variety of colors: black, dark charcoal, mango tango, natural green, red rock, stone white, bright silver, deep water blue, flame red, rescue green and surf blue.

The Islander 4x4, a classic beach Jeep, is available in black, stone white, or surf blue. To bolster the "beach" theme, it includes a distinctive tiki hood emblem and embroidered seat logos. The Islander stands tall with robust 32-inch tires set on 17-inch MOAB wheels. Air-conditioning and half metal doors come standard. One key option is the choice of a black or chrome package for the tubular side steps, fuel filler door, and tail lamps. The chrome package can be upgraded to a Premium package, which adds chrome mirrors and a chrome front grill. Another major option for all Wranglers is the Dual Top Group. It includes a 3-piece modular hardtop, a soft top, a panel storage bag, rear window defroster, and rear wiper and washer. Other choices include deep tinted sunscreen windows, a 6-CD/DVD/mp3 radio, supplemental front side airbags, and power everything, including security alarm and remote.

In keeping with a location theme is the Mountain 4x4. The Mountain is rugged-looking with its standard black tubular side steps, fuel filler door, tail lamps, 7-slot mineral gray grill and 32-inch off-road tires. Color choices are black, mango tango, deep water blue and rescue green. The Mountain design includes its own embroidered seat logo, latitude and longitude hood decal and Mountain logo hood emblem. Standard features include air-conditioning, half metal doors, cruise control, full length floor console, and traction control specially designed to self-adjust for on-road and off-road driving conditions. With the exception of the base Wrangler, all trims include a trailer tow option which consists of trailer hitch receiver, trailer sway damping and trailer tow with 4-pin wire connector.

Continuing the tradition of the World War II jeeps, the Sport S, the Islander and the Mountain provide unique-looking and fully functional off-road vehicles.

  2. QUESTION:
does any body have any information about china painting a mountain green?
i heard that china painted a mountain green, so i looked it up and didnt get the gratest results. but when i told people they didnt believe me. including my teacher. so any information would be appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
having lived in china for 3 years I'm not surprised. this is what I found.

The Associated Press and various other world news organizations are enthusiastically reporting the ecological debacle in China's southwestern Yunnan province. Laoshou Mountain, a once green and majestic presence on the Chinese horizon, had become barren and defaced from twenty years of strip-mining. In a stunning move by apparently high offices of the Chinese government, the mountain has received a new green hue, albeit an unnatural and unhealthy one.

The frightening neon green color emanating from the massive mountainside crater speaks more of nuclear waste than of living plants. In a still unfathomable decision, China had workers spray-paint the indented portion of the mountain at an estimated cost of 60,000 dollars (US), according to Xinhua News Agency, who quoted local residents complaining of paint fumes and saying that the money could have been better used to buy actual plants.

China, in its usual form, is not answering questions concerning the reasoning behind their latest baffling project. All attempts by the western media to contact government officials have been met by unnamed secretaries with curt responses that decisions were made higher up and no comment will be given. Speculations center on two major theories, the first that the officials in Fumin County, whose main office building faces the newly painted mountain, were making an attempt to adjust the feng-shue of the area, or the energy flow resulting from the composition of an area. Various sources point to a Mr. Du, a businessman who made considerable profit from the strip-mining of the mountain, as the primary responsible party.

The second theory is that the Chinese government has made a farcical and short-sighted attempt to "green" an area. This toxic and appalling attempt at an environmental bandage has many ecologists and wildlife groups criticizing the Chinese government, and has most of the world laughing. The news has been positioned in "news of the weird" columns across the board and was recently featured in a National Public Radio segment wherein a contestant had to pick one real absurd news story from a group of absurd fake news stories.

When workers began painting the mountain last August, local residents became puzzled. The government had recently closed the mountain quarry, due to complaints from nearby residents about the dust and the noise. Some villagers assumed that the work crews were reforesting. But as the perplexing project moved along and the fumes began to drift, locals knew something was wrong. Workers, when questioned, said that they were not given a reason for their task, only the order to complete it.

China will most likely remain silent on the matter, keeping with a longstanding tradition of silence regarding mistakes and embarrassments. For now we can file this as one of the stranger and larger bureaucratic mishaps of our history.
